It's Monday! What are you reading? (6)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey. I've decided that I'll do this meme, every two weeks.

Last Three Weeks:
It's been rather slow for me lately, I haven't read as much as I would wanted to. I only read I Loved You First by Reena Jacobs (review) and the last volume of Ouran High School Host Club.

Liebster Award

Over the weekend I was awarded the Liebster Award from Thinks Books.

So what's the Liebster Award? I'm glad you asked. It's an award given to upcoming bloggers that have less than 200 followers. Liebster is a German word endearment meaning sweetheart, darling, beloved, etc. (It's sweet huh?)

This award comes with some rules so here goes:
  1. You have to post 11 facts about yourself.
  2. You have to answer the 11 questions asked of you and ask 11 questions of the bloggers you will be awarding.
  3. You have to pass the award on to 11 other bloggers.
  4. Tell those you're awarding by leaving a comment on their blog.
  5. No tag backs.

Showcase Sunday (8)

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books Biscuits and Tea.

I would say I wasn't good this week, however, even though it's been a slow month for me, it has been awhile since I went a little crazy, so I don't feel too bad about it. The books I bought were all on my wishlist. I won Maggie Mae (ebook), Shades of Grey (ebook), and Love Unfinished (paperback, haven't received yet) from Darian Wilk. The rest were all free ebooks. I also received some swag I had won earlier this month (I think I like winning swag as much as I like winning books). I received them from and signed by Sarah M. Ross. I also got the movies Beastly, Twilight and a 4 feature films of Nicholas Sparks movies, which I won from Liza over at Reading with ABC.

Weigh in Wednesday (7) (I know I know, it's not Wednesday)

Weigh in Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Epilogue. The topic for this weeks meme is:

Action/Adventure vs. Romance
(if the story only has one)

I actually think this might be a quick answer for me. Though I'm not really a romance fan (well, unless it's historical fiction), I would have to pick it. I tend to get lost during action scenes and what not. There tend to be a number of things happening at once and sometimes even the smallest move could mean something in the long run and I just end up thinking "I don't remember that happening." So I say romance because I'm not going to get lost, or if I do it's usually in parts that aren't very important (to me anyway).

And I begin the Wicked Wildfire Read-A-Thon...

Wicked Wildfire Read-A-Thon

I wanted to start this yesterday but found I was unusually busy... hmm.... Anyway, I think it's time to curl up (okay maybe not curl up it too hot for that) and finish my book. Once I find it I can't remember when the last time I saw it was....

I Loved You First by Reena Jacobs

Alex believes herself to be invisible, living in the shadow of her best friend Seth. Seth is athletic and sociable, and is in the closet that however, doesn't stop Alex from being in love with him. Still, she doesn't feel that she needs anyone else in her life. Of course, that all changes when Seth's secret is let out of the bag. Alex finds that she isn't as invisible as she thinks she is, and that maybe he isn't the only person she needs.

I didn't think I was going to read this so quickly. Once I started  it, I tried to put my kindle down as rarely as possible. I liked the pace, usually I feel like some YA contemporary kind of drags and I didn't get that with I Loved You First. It kept me interested the whole time.

I also have to say that I really liked Alex for the most part. I'm a wall flower by choice myself. However, one thing I couldn't figure out, was why she loved Seth. Honestly, right from the beginning he seemed like a jerk to me. He seemed to take advantage of her every chance he got (ex: dragging her to parties and dates), just because she loved him and was her best friend.

I would give this book a 3.5/5. For a quick read it was enjoyable, I was, however, slightly disappointed with it. I feel like the characters might have been missing something. I also don't think that Seth really went through much, though he gave up so easily.

I was asked by the author to review this.

Jessie still loves giveaways!

I've been recently thinking about getting to A Song of Fire and Ice series, my father (if I'm not mistaken) watches the show, and I've caught a few seconds of it every and then. However, not being a very  big TV person, I haven't really bothered to sit down and watch it, I just keep telling myself I get the books sooner or later (obviously it hasn't happened yet).

Anyway, Ella from Read Into Hiding, is giving a giveaway for reaching 150 followers, and is giving away the first five books in A Song of Fire and Ice series.

That One I Keep Meaning to Read (10)...

(Well it's been awhile since I've done this...)

So I decided that maybe posting random books I've been meaning to get to, so the world could see, might encourage me to read them. So today, that book that sticks out to me the most, that I've been meaning to read is....

A Company of Swans
by Eva Ibbotson
Description (from Goodreads): For nineteen-year-old Harriet Morton, life in 1912 Cambridge is as dry and dull as a biscuit. Her stuffy father and her opressive aunt Louisa allow her only one outlet: ballet. When a Russian ballet master comes to class searching for dancers to fill the corps of his ballet company before their South American tour, Harriet's world changes. Defying her father's wishes and narrowly escaping the clutches of the man who wishes to marry her, Harriet sneaks off to join the ballet on their journey to the Amazon. There, in the wild, lush jungle, they perform Swan Lake in grand opera houses for the wealthy and culture-deprived rubber barons, and Harriet meets Rom Verney, the handsome and mysterious British exile who owns the most ornate opera house. Utterly enchanted by both the exotic surroundings and by Rom's affections, Harriet is swept away by her new life, completely unaware that her father and would-be fiancé have begun to track her down...

Showcase Sunday (6)

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books Biscuits and Tea.

Another week of being good! I am very proud of myself! (Though I'm really beginning to think I should cut back on all these free books I keep finding.) However, there are a few books I won from giveaways, a signed copy of The Time Weaver from Colorimetry, an ebook copy of ReVamped from Doodle's Book Blog (I actually won this one at the end of May, and just took awhile to claim my gift from Amazon) and an ebook copy of Blink from Bookfever. AND I was asked to review I Loved You First, it's the first time I've been asked to review anything so I'm very excited about it! I've also decided to give eReaders a try again, and bought myself a kindle touch, reading on the computer hasn't been too easy for me, so I bought it for all the free ebooks I find, and the ones I win.
