Showcase Sunday (13)

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books Biscuits and Tea.

I've been slightly good... slightly. I only bought three books this week, and I only collect... a "few" free ebooks over the past two weeks. I guess it's a good thing I don't count any of those ebooks in my TBR pile, otherwise I wouldn't know what to do with it all.

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Wrap Up

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

So ends another read-a-thon *sad face*. I'm pretty sure I kept up with my two hour a day rule (and if I didn't, days like Saturday when I read all day made up for whatever I missed). I do want to keep that little rule for everyday, but I find myself slipping if I'm not careful. And even though I wanted to participate in some of the Twitter Chats this time, I felt like I didn't really have much time to do more than just my reading. I visited less blogs than I did last time to which makes me feel a little bad. However, what doesn't make me feel bad is that I met my goals!

Books I finished:

I got more than half-way through:

And managed to start:

Next time I'm hoping to set my goals a little higher, I meant to this time but I knew that with things being strange around my house/work that I wouldn't be able to.

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Update 6

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Oh no! It's the last day of the read-a-thon! It's bad enough I slept in (I really need to start setting more than one alarm clock to go off in the morning). Anyway, I was a little bad yesterday, I didn't touch Chastity, though I told myself I was going to finish it. Well I didn't, what I did finish was Angel, however, it's really hard not to pick up the last book in James Patterson's Maximum Ride series, Nevermore. Still I have other books I need to get to and I'll have to hold off. Today, I plan on possibly finishing Chastity, and maybe even continuing with the Mary Hoffman's Stravaganza series and begin to reread City of Secrets.

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 13th and runs through Sunday, August 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 5.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog.

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Update 5 and a Mini Challenge

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Well... yesterday was an okay day for me, I finished City of Flowers and read a little of Chastity, and even started Angel (about time right?), though I am only about a chapter in. Hopefully I'll finish Chastity today, and get well into Angel. Now for a mini challenge:

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Update 4 and a Mini Challenge

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Yesterday was a good day for me. I read about 260 pages of City of Flowers and made a decent way in Chastity. I'm hoping to have them both finished by tomorrow. On to a challenge:

Most Looking Forward To Challenge is hosted by Pages of Forbidden Love, who gives us two questions to answer.

1) What book are you most looking forward to based on summary alone?

The Assassin's Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke
Summary:  Ananna of the Tanarau abandons ship when her parents try to marry her off to an allying pirate clan: she wants to captain her own boat, not serve as second-in-command to her handsome yet clueless fiance. But her escape has dire consequences when she learns the scorned clan has sent an assassin after her.

And when the assassin, Naji, finally catches up with her, things get even worse. Ananna inadvertently triggers a nasty curse — with a life-altering result. Now Ananna and Naji are forced to become uneasy allies as they work together to break the curse and return their lives back to normal. Or at least as normal as the lives of a pirate and an assassin can be.

2) What book are you most looking forward to based on cover art alone?

I can't say that there's any book I'm looking forward to based on cover art alone. I don't usually find out about new books until after they're published (or they're sequels to books I've read and that's why I want to read them). I did come across The Assassin's Curse completely by chance.

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Update 3 and a Mini Challenge

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

I didn't get much reading done yesterday, maybe about 80 pages of City of Flowers and some of Chastity (which is an ebook so I'm not really sure how much I read). I'm crossing my fingers that I'll get more reading done today, though I'll probably get some visitors later today, but I should at least get my two hours in. On to the mini challenge!

The Candy Challenge is hosted by BookSmartie. The challenge is to share our snacking habits.

Well, honestly, there is rarely anything to eat at my house. However, when I do have things to snack on, I have no problem eating while I'm reading. Unless, whatever I'm eating leaves my fingers all messy (pizza, hot fries, etc.), then I just eat, without reading, wash my hands when I'm done and then get back to reading.

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Update 2

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Yesterday I read about 200 pages finishing off City of Stars. Yay for me. I'm going to continue reading Chastity and possible start City of Flowers. I'm off to start today's reading. I'm hoping to do more reading than two hours today, however, there might be something happening around the house today. I haven't bothered to see what everyone is up to yet.

This weekly meme is hosted at The Broke and the Bookish. This week is "Top Ten Book Romances That You Think Would Make It In The Real World". I could only come up with six but I'm sure I'll think of more later.

  2. Ron and Hermione from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
  3. Luciano and Arianna from the Stravaganza series by Mary Hoffman
  4. Sonea and Regin from The Traitor Spy Trilogy by Trudi Canavan
  5. Yelena and Valek from the Study series by Maria V. Snyder
  6. Vin and Elend from the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Update 1

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Yesterday I read about 100 pages of City of Stars. I might have managed to read more pages, however, though I did do at least two hours yesterday, they were often interrupted two hours. I'm hoping to manage some more reading, possible finish one of the books I'm currently reading. But who knows?

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon Goals

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Like last time, I'm hoping to read about two hours a day (though I had planned on making that a daily thing, I have been slipping lately). I'm also hoping to read about the same amount of books as the last time (about three and half, or was it two and a half?).

Anyway, some books I'm hoping to get to/finish:

Summer Wrap-Up Read-a-Thon Wrap-Up

Read-a-thon Signups

Well the Summer Wrap-Up Read-a-Thon is coming to an end. I wish I had read more and been able to participate in the challenges. Oh, well, though I did finish two books:

And I started another two others (and am likely to get half-way through at least one of them by the end of the night):

Showcase Sunday (12)

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books Biscuits and Tea.

Now last time did Showcase Sunday (two weeks ago I think), I thought that I had bought more books than I actually did but couldn't remember. Well it was because I had gotten a few things in the mail and forgot about it (I'm not even sure how long I've actually had some of these books).

And, I haven't been exactly good this past week. However, it's August and I knew I would be adding a few books into my library this month (granted only two of the four books I bought came out this month, and I'm still waiting for a few more.

Summer Wrap-Up Read-a-Thon Update 1

Read-a-thon Signups

I didn't get too much reading done yesterday. I guess that's what happens when I have something much better distracting me (Kingdom Hearts 3D, granted it's only better because I haven't finished it yet). However, there is something I've been wanting more than Kingdom Hearts, it's The Traitor Queen by Trudi Canavan, which I got a copy of yesterday. Good bye Kingdom Hearts, and all the other books I planned to read, I have to finish this book first before I can think of going back to you.

Summer Wrap-Up Read-a-Thon Begins

Read-a-thon Signups

Another read-a-thon begins, and I'm having laptop problems (I'm currently on my families computer) just my luck. Though that doesn't stop me from participating in the read-a-thon, I'm hoping to at least get to some of the challenges. (I just have to keep my fingers crossed.)

Some of the books I'm hoping to get to/finish are:

And who knows since I'm laptop-less, I might manage to do this and more.
