The Kingdom of Soron bustled with activity as preparations for the Fall Festival began. Lively merchants, hardworking farmers, and musicians eagerly awaited this event of harvest and joy. This year’s festival was even more important, as they celebrated Princess Madeline’s betrothal to her knight champion, Daniel.

Celebration quickly turns to disaster as Prince Paulsen returns with curious demands, either Princess Madeline will be his, or no ones. Rejection turns to obsession and battle is declared.

In a tense struggle to decide her future, Princess Madeline must choose where to put her trust… in the king’s tried and true plan, the wizard’s cryptic messages and maps, or her own sense of bravery. Follow Princess Madeline on this adventure as she battles evil in an attempt to create a future of love and magic.

The Wonderful World of Color

Every person has that one thing that makes them smile- that one thing that brightens even the darkest of days. For me, it is rainbows. Whether a real one, the sparkling off a crystal, or even a photo, when I see one, I am instantly transformed. There is happy magic in the combination of the different colors and shades, and I wanted to continue that feeling in these stories.

The Escape of Princess Madeline and The Battle for Princess Madeline, use a variety of colors in the scenes, descriptions, and even in the character development. Here are a few examples for building the world.

  • The Kingdom of Soron is known for its fiery sunsets. Shades of red, orange, and yellows streak across the sky in celebration of each day. These bright vibrant colors represent the power of the kingdom, and the temperament of its ruler.

Triumphant cheers from the kingdom echoed through the courtyard. The sunset screamed victory as each shade of red, orange, and yellow proudly flashed through the air, nature waving its own banner of victory. The air smelled tangy, a sweet mixture of the wine and treats mixed with the happy tears of those below. Warmth filled the hearts of those dancing as the cool breeze kept the air light and fresh.

  • The Great Forest is a sea of green. Shades of every color and hue, filling out this forest, filled with diversity of nature, animals, and bandits.

Madeline paused for a moment, letting the cool breeze of the morning air brush the wisps of hair out of her face. The cool temperature cleared her mind and allowed her to focus for a moment. Her eyes shifted up and she thoughtfully gazed over the trees and woods, their soft and vibrant greens filling her mind with peace, the soft chirps of birds easing the knot of fear in her stomach. Even the dirt offered her comfort, the sweet aroma of morning fresh dirt, pine needles and morning dew, offering the sweet smell of life. It was a vast difference from the musty containment of the tunnels, and a huge departure from the smoky destruction of her village.

  • The Blue Mountains are known for their sunrises. After the wizards exile, they retreated to these mountains, and made their home in the natural caves. This area is categorized by its colorful sunrises, and caves filled with natural crystals. The Blue Mountains symbolizing the wizard’s connection to magic, wisdom, and faith, and the caves sparkling with magic, and wonder.

Sunrises in the Blue Mountains were a sight to behold. The reflection of light over the green trees and blue tinged mountains, with the reverberation of color through the morning mist, erupted the sky into a kaleidoscope of colors. Elias spent most mornings on top of the treacherous terrain of the Blue Mountains watching and listening to the sunrise with great anticipation. The cliff edges stretched fifty feet above the trees below, the perfect stage for the morning show.

Each portion of this world was created carefully, with respect to their colors, the imagery, and the feelings they evoke. I hope you enjoy the Kingdom of Soron, and the wonderful adventures.
