Cover Reveal Of Sea and Stone by Kate Avery Ellison

Of Sea and Stone by Kate Avery Ellison
Publication date: February 2014
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult

Synopsis:
All her life, clever Aemi has been a slave in the Village of the Rocks, a place where the sea and sky meet. She’s heard the stories about the fabled People of the Sea, a people who possess unimaginable technology who live below the waves in the dark, secret places of the ocean. But she never dreamed those stories were true.

When a ship emerges from the ocean and men burn her village, Aemi is captured, and enslaved below the waves in Itlantis, a world filled with ancient cities of glass and metal, floating gardens, and wondrous devices that seem to work magic. To make matters worse, her village nemesis, the stuck-up mayor’s son Nol, was captured with her, and they are made servants in the same household beneath the sea.

Desperate to be free, Aemi plots her escape, even going so far as to work with Nol. But the sea holds more secrets than she realizes, and escape might not be as simple as leaving…

About the Author

I've been making up stories since I was five years old, and now I'm thrilled to be able to do it as a full-time job. I have an obsession with dark fantasy, dystopian futures, and Pride and Prejudice-style love stories full of witty banter and sizzling, unspoken feelings. When I'm not writing, I'm creating digital art, reading funny blogs, or watching my favorite shows (which include TVD and BSG). I live with my geeky husband and our two bad cats in Atlanta, GA.

Bout of Books 9.0 Update Day 3-6

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 9.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

Yay! The past few days have been great (with the exception of yesterday which I worked all day). On Wednesday I think I read at least three hours and on Thursday when I got home my internet was down so I ended up reading for at least three/four hours, before heading off to bed! I should be finished with The Magician's Apprentice today! However, I have fallen back a bit on Vampire Academy which I'll try to catch up on today.

Alright, so I've been doing pretty well, for the first two days of the read-a-thon. On Monday I read for at least two hours if not more, I finished the book I had been reading The Mediator: Shadowland. And I began both Vampire Academy (I'm taking part in a read-along right now) and The Magician's Apprentice. I only read for about an hour yesterday, since I worked but that was good enough for me! Let's hope I also do well today, I have the day off so I'm hoping do do some more reading.

Well... I meant to get this up earlier but it didn't happen... oh well. Anyway, my goals will mostly be the same as they always are, with the exception of how much time I read a day. I've been working more hours lately so I haven't really had much time to read, but I'm going to try to make time for it.

My goals:
  • Read at least two hours a day on my days off and one hour a day on days I work.
  • Finish at least two books.
  • Visit a couple of blogs everyday.
  • Maybe participate in a Twitter chat.

I have a few books in mind, but I'm not sure what I'll be trying to read.

Showcase Sunday (30)

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky at Books Biscuits and Tea.

So I did really well in 2013 with the whole buying less books. I can't even tell you how much money I've saved! I hope to manage not to buy too many books in 2014 as well, but by the looks of it I'm not at a great start.

It's a new year! And January's schedule

Happy New Year!

Whoo! It's 2014. For some reason I feel like this is going to be a good year. I'm trying to keep ahead of things here at Jessie's Book Place, so I already have somewhat of a schedule made up for the first half of the year.

To start the new year, January is Fantasy month here at Jessie's Book Place! So most of my books with have fantasy elements in them.

I recently changed my blog's design around, and changed it from fairy tales to mermaids for my third blogoversary. I was about a week late with it, I thought my blogoversasry was after Christmas for some reason, it's actually a few days before. Oops. Oh Well. I'm also going to have a giveaway to celebrate, that'll be up later today.

Hopefully I'll be participating in the Bout of Books Read-a-Thon and the A Winter's Sprite Read-a-thon.
